Implementation of Information Technology (IT) in schools across Indonesia, the undeniable still encounter many obstacles. Among other computer penetration is still low.

Microsoft and Hewlett Packard (HP) was trying to provide technology solutions that they make keroyokan. HP Computing Solution MultiSeat combined with multipoint Windows Server 2010, allows a single server can be used ‘polygamy’ to 10 monitors, in supporting the learning process at school.

“We want to help governments develop education with this solution. Computer penetration is still low in schools where the average computer 1 is used thousands of students will be helped by these technologies,” said Ananta Gondomono, Academic Manager of Microsoft Indonesia in Yogyakarta SMPN 5 , Thursday (10/2/2009).

In this technology, Windows Multipoint Server 2010 allows multiple computers running a single server computer. Each monitor is connected to the server, each of which includes a keyboard and mouse. Although both connected to a computer as a server, but each user can perform a separate job.

“We made this technology to help education, especially to overcome the digital divide in schools across Indonesia. The surplus in addition to efficient, power saving, easy to use and its easy maintenance,” added Megawati Khie, Managing Director of HP’s Personal Systems Group of Indonesia, in equal opportunities.

Unfortunately, the implementation of these technologies seem mass still be visited many schools in the country. For this very day, a new SMPN 5 Yogyakarta which was the pilot project because it was considered quite advanced in the application of IT. In addition, this technology is not widely marketed.

“But the next plan is to be applied widely throughout Indonesia. We will do various roadshows to introduce,” said Megawati. The technology is already marketed for the companies, but not for the education community.

Megawati added, Multiseat HP technology is also introduced in various parts of the world. Of course, to enjoy this technology will take the cost of the device are made exclusively by HP and Microsoft. However, costs incurred claimed far more economical than buying a computer only for all students.
