Some states do extra strict controls on the Internet. Turkey is one of them. Now the state is required to review its policies in silencing thousands of sites. Turkey asked to stop the suppression of freedom of expression on the Internet.

The call was made by the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe / OSCE). Human rights organizations are asking Turkey to reform laws that have blocked the website 3700.

With this blockade, Turkish citizens can not access sites such as YouTube, GeoCities and the number of pages on Google.

“Decisions about what is being blocked seem arbitrary and political motives,” said Miklos Haraszti of the OSCE, as quoted from the SMH, Tuesday (19/1/2010).

Haraszti admitted understand that the Turkish government blocked the pornography sites. However, the internet laws to limit the country votes for its citizens freedom of expression and limit the rights of citizens to obtain information.

Not only Turkey’s strict in regulating the use of the Internet, there is still Myanmar, China is also so hard to control the Internet usage of its citizens. Freedom of Internet usage in Iran is far from encouraging words. Some time ago, a number of bloggers arrested for protesting the results of presidential elections in Iran.
